Roger Longdin - "The Magic of Light"
1st to 28th February 2009
I have been photographing the landscape and environment for more years than I can remember. It is a passion, and one that is emotionally rewarding and satisfying. I like to record the beauty of light in the landscape as I see it at the time, and convey it to the viewer through the medium of photography.
Most of my images are made at dawn or dusk, when the angle of light intensifies the colours, and the long shadows accentuate the modeling in the landscape. Every effort is made to reproduce the image as seen, on the photographic paper as faithfully and accurately as possible.
For the technically minded, I use a Linhoff large format film camera. The size of the negative or transparency is 5" x 4" or 10" x 8". This ensures the highest quality resolution and reproduction on the final photographic print. I use colour transparency file, either fuji velvia 50, or fuji provia 100, reproduced on ilfochrome, (Cibachrome) photographic paper. For Black and White work I use Kodak T-Max 100 film printed onto Ilford Multigrade fiber based or resin coated glossy paper. All images are individually hand printed in the darkroom.
